Finally Friday!

This week went by quick :) It probably helped that Jason let me sleep in two of the four days hahahaahaha Well I'm glad its the weekend anyways.

Yesterday was an exciting day for us. Jason FINALLY felt b kick for the first time!! YAAYY! She always stopped kicking right as I tried to get him to feel, so I was happy that he was finally able to feel her!

We went to babies r us to see if our furniture was in yet because they hadn't called us to let us know anything and its been a month since we ordered it. They had 3 of the 4 pieces in and we got a call today that the 4th piece is in! YAAAY! We cant set any of it up yet since we need to get the carpets cleaned and room painted but at least we have it!! We are going to pick up the last piece tonight. I don't think I can keep looking at the boxes in the garage.. its just torture to see it sitting there
Photobucket

So we are going to have to get a move on getting the room ready!! LOL

I also bought b's FIRST outfit last night!! Even though I wanted something a little more girly, I just LOVED this one. The little stars are sooooo cute! She is my little sweet pea!!

Photobucket

It has the hat and little matching booties.. tooooo cuute. love love it!

This was the runner up, its purple polka dots, with a little butterfly on the hat..
Photobucket

It's cute buuuuut I just wasn't feeling the polka dots..so the stars won hahaha

Well last night I stayed up kinda late studying up on the Bradley method. I know I have mentioned I was taking classes but didn't really explain why.

The Bradley Method focuses on a drug free birth and using our bodies as nature intended them. Many women do not study about birth and go into it blindly and do as the doctors say and what society is used to. The lack of proper diet, stress, fear and tension of childbirth causes more pain then the actual birth itself. Many women who know what to expect and prepare for it naturally usually have a more positive experience then those who have medication. Drugs are there for a purpose, and not all births are the same. I know sometimes medication is necessary. What Bradley teaches is to know when it is actually necessary and not just because it’s available. There was a time when it was routine to knock the mother out completely and use forceps to get the baby out. When it was discovered that method was harmful to the child because the drugs also reached the child, other options were developed. Only until they realized it was harmful to the child, they found new options. This to me doesn’t mean the new ways are the best. We are a progressive society but there is too much emphasis on altering childbirth. There is a new report out that out of ALL births 75% use epidurals and 35% are C-Sections… That’s amazing and very sad.

Although I have not given birth yet, and people can say "what do I know", currently I do not personally know BUT I am trusting the word of someone who DOES know: My mother. My mother gave birth to ALL 7 of my brothers and sisters without medication. People can joke that after one the rest are easy which in fact isn't true. The older a woman gets, more complications can arise therefore not "guaranteeing" an easy birth. Luckily my mom was very aware and informed and gave us the best start into this world possible. My mom lived in Colorado in the beginning of her first pregnancy and she went to Dr. Bradley because she had read his book, Husband Coached Childbirth and was very interested in his method. My mom was a DES baby (DES is a medication that once was said to be "safe" and was given to pregnant women to prevent miscarriages but was found to cause some reproductive problems for female babies.) Even with the complications she has encountered that may have been because of the DES, with proper diet and knowledge she received from Dr. Bradley and applying it to all her births, we all arrived into this world safely and healthy. I really have a new level of respect for my mom.

I had a huge fear of giving birth for many many years until I had spoken to my mom about it when Jason and I started talking about starting our own family. Hearing my mom’s story and advice gave me all the confidence in the world that I can do it without drugs as well. I really went from being scared to death of childbirth to knowing I can do it medication free! Commitment and support is a big part of the Bradley method. Many women may try it but if they do not TRULY feel they can cope and apply the techniques taught and do not have someone there to support her, they will cave and ask for medication. Really, to each their own. It is your body to decide what is best for you and your child. I have decided that what is best for me and my child is to not trust current knowledge and give birth as nature intended. Our bodies are so much more amazing than I had ever imagined when dealing with childbirth. Our bodies actually send out hormones to cope with the pain, but because of medical intervention and then adding in stress and tension many women's bodies do not have a chance to, making labor to be even longer. I'm so proud to be using the Bradley method, knowing all the benefits and being as prepared as possible.

Okay sorry that kinda got a little long and preachy but its just how I feel.

Everyone have a GREAT weekend!

Okay that's enough about the weekend, it's time for b!!!

Our little princess is little by little working on meeting us! here is her update

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

We still haven't received our baby furniture which is a little sad, hopefully soon though. I think we are going to get the room painted soon. I picked out the colors at lowes the other week, its a light lavender and light mint. I can't wait to have her room all ready and even more so to have her IN it!! yaaay.

We have our bradley class tonight and I will talk about it on friday :)

Have a great day everyone!

Memorial day weekend!

Photobucket
I'm so excited to have a 3 day weekend. We are going to go to the Jazz Jubilee which should be so much fun. Jason and I really love to sit and listen to Jazz, we have been wanting to go for the last 5 years but always seem to be busy with other things so I'm so glad we are able to do it this year.
Photobucket

Our Bradley class on Monday was okay, a lot about the coach and what they should do to help during the pregnancy, during birth and after the baby comes. Jason is pretty awesome so I cant really say I would expect more from him. We have the same expectations which help. We watched another birthing video, which I didn't expect the crotch shot so much whooooaa hahahaha I don't know how I feel about having to keep seeing other women's crotch's but I guess I have to lol. Our next class is Tuesday since Monday is a holiday and we are going to finally start talking about the first stage of labor. My mom has already been pretty helpful with the whole thing but it will be nice for the classes to start focusing on this part in more detail (hopefully).

I forgot to put a picture up of the large painting's Danielle and I did for the upstairs. Here they are :) Not too bad for amateurs, plus being a lot cheaper and a lot of fun hahahaa I might make some more changes but who knows.. it does the job for now. ( i had to split this picture into 2 so you could see both :) )

Photobucket
Photobucket
Once I know they are finished I think I'm going to get them framed so they look a little nicer but that's not too important right now.

b is still doing well, its crazy to think that I'm almost 6 months pregnant! It really seems like this all just started. It seems so surreal. One day we will have a little girl with us, everywhere we go..wow. I can't wait! I'm so ready for this and one day if you are reading this b..We love you :)

Okay thats it for today, we are closing up early to go to a signing.

23 WEEKS

Good afternoon everyone!

I cant believe we are already mid way through May. Summer is creeping up and with the weather we had this weekend, it feels like its already here. Thank god we have a pool.

Our little princess is now 23 weeks.. here is her weekly update

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

ok.. squirm under my clothes aaaahhhhhhhhh.. that's just a little freaky.. I don't think I'm going to see that just yet.. but I guess I will have to try and pay attention to find out.

She is getting so big!! yaaaay

I've been doing good, feeling her move around everyday is funny. I wonder what she is thinking hmmmmmmm... While b was floating around growing, we were pretty busy this weekend.

Jason's trip to half dome went well although when I talked to him on Saturday night he said to remind him to never do it again hahhahahaa

Here are some pictures from their trip.

yes, that is Jason squishing half dome hahahaha

He did it!

While the guys were huffing and puffing up the mountain, Danielle and I were painting! lol We painted two large canvases for upstairs. It took us FOREVER hahaha but it was soooo much fun.
Photobucket

We took a break from the large ones and started some personal ones..
Photobucket

I decided to try one for b's room.. Yes I was chillin with my belly out lol
Photobucket

Here is b's painting all finished.. I don't really like it, soooo it probably wont go up. oh well it was fun painting it anyways.

Jason got home around 1 on Sunday and joined Danielle and I in the pool.
Danielle tried to take a sneaky picture.. but I saw her!

Eating hot dogs in the pool, there was no way I was getting out lol

We have our bradley class tonight. I'm anxious to find out what this class will be about. I will let you know how it goes on Friday :)

I hope everyone has a fabulous week!!

bitter sweet friday..

Jason is going out of town today with his friends to go hike half dome.
Photobucket

It's something he has wanted to do for a long time and I am glad he is going to be able to do it before the baby comes but.. I'm going to miss him :( He leaves today around 3 and will be back some time on Sunday. Its funny because its only a couple days, but we just don't spend that much time apart so it makes me a little sad, but I am very excited for him still. Danielle will be spending the weekend with me so at least I won't be alone. :)

Other then that I'm very glad its Friday! b apparently was playing kick mommy last night because during Friends she was moving like crazy. I finally said "geeez" to Jason and then of course he tried to feel and she stopped hahahhaha poor Jason, every time he tries to feel, she stops moving. I think she does it on purpose lol.

Our Bradley class on Monday was much better then the first but I still don't exactly love the instructor. She is nice enough and I will get what I need out of the classes but she isn't someone I would recommend to anyone else. Anyway, this week was about nutrition and breastfeeding. Which was pretty interesting. Jason and I have talked about starting to get things ready to move to our outside processor so I can stay at home. Hopefully in another month or so I should be done at the office.

Not much else happened this week, Work has been really busy so I actually need to wrap this up.

Fridays Cyanide and Happiness lol

Everyone have a great weekend!

b at 22 weeks & mothers day

I will start this off with b's weekly update :)

She is now 22 weeks!!

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. Her lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and she's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath her gums. Her eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her body and the deep wrinkles on her skin, which she'll sport until she adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside her belly, her pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

This weekend was so nice, Friday Jason and I played cards and dominoes outside by the fire pit, its been so nice to relax outside. I love the beautiful weather we are having! I took a picture of us hahaha look..

Saturday Jason and his dad worked on b's bathroom and laid down the new flooring, still a little work to do left so I will wait to post pictures when its all done.

Sunday was nice, Jason made me breakfast like usual but I appreciate it so much since it makes the mornings easy for me. I got a surprise and DANIELLE showed up YAAAY! She brought me a nice gift, I put it in b's room.
Photobucket The candle is queen bee lavender lol and the shampoo is baby bee! hahhahah so cute!

Jason's family came over and the kids played in the pool while we played cards and relaxed. I made enchiladas and oooh they were yuummmmy! We opened gifts and I got a (much needed) gift certificate to get my nails and toes done and a really cute little elephant for b :)from all my in-laws in the cutest box!
Photobucket

Jason got me this fire urn for outside hahahaaha sounds funny I know but I love it because its really something JUST FOR ME! Its perfect height to have by my chair if we are outside. Its awesome!
Photobucket
We were at hallmark the other day and I saw this frame and thought it was sooo cute, luckily he went back and got it for me <3 YAY.. I put b's picture in it right away.
Photobucket
hopefully you can read it but it says baby to bee.. and has a little bee on the side, sooo adorable!

Dr. appointment

Hello and....

Photobucket

Today has been great, I think we are closing up early which I am tooo excited for. I'm so ready to start the weekend.

We had our Dr. appointment at 1:30 today and no one told me I was going to have to pee in a cup from here on out?! helllooo where was the heads up hahaha I just went pee right before we left and then the first thing they say when I check in, okay so we need you to pee in a cup... uuummm what?... Luckily they let me do it after the appointment since well there was nothing to give at the time hahahaha but anyways the appointment went fabulous! The Dr. went over the first trimester screening test with us and all the tests came back negative and she said really good negative. They give statistics on the likely hood for b to have some kind of deficiency and she said they were 1 in 10,0000 for almost all of the tests. One of the test was 1 in 8,500 which she said is still a very good ratio to have. All of b's ultrasound pictures were back from the neurologist and she said all those were great as well. We have a very very healthy b!!

The Dr went to listen to the heart and she was positioned so we couldn't hear it too loud but while she was trying to find it, b kicked where she was pointing the mic hhahahahah we all of a sudden heard this loud THUD, she wasn't happy about getting poked hahahahaha but we were able to hear it a little after that and she said it sounded great. b is a little feisty though! Taking after her momma hahahahaha

Tomorrow Jason is going to work on replacing the floor in b's bathroom to be like the other guest bathroom upstairs. I want him to do our master bath too but he said that was a lot of work and isn't sure if he wants too hahahaha I'm still working on him though :)
I'm really excited for Sunday, we have mothers day with his family. They are all coming over to our house to hang out and have dinner. I think I'm going to make enchiladas, they've been sounding good lately and I really only like the way I make them sooo hahahaa I have to make them. lol Its crazy to think my very first mothers day aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... its still weird to think about. Its really weird actually, but of course I'm very excited. I wish I could be with my mom on mother's day but she is back in mexico so my thoughts will be with her. Love you mom!!

For all the mothers, future mothers and EVERYONE IN GENERAL
Photobucket

just remember we would be here without our mothers :)

I've got some stuff to wrap up at work and then I'm OUT! Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

21 Wks & The Bradley Method..

Our little girl is now 21 weeks!!

I have been feeling her move and kick daily which is exciting but also slightly annoying hahahha

Here is her 21 week update...

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

Some of you know, some of you don't.. We have decided not to tell anyone the name of the baby until she comes. We haven't decided on a name yet but we feel once we come up with one, we aren't looking for opinions and would rather keep it to ourselves until the time comes for her to be with us. We appreciate your support in our decision.

Here is carrot b! 10 1/2 inches! I think they could of found a better looking carrot hahahahaa

Virtual b - look how big she is getting!!
Photobucket

We had our first class with the Bradley instructor last night and weeelll, the verdict hasn't come back on how I feel about her lol

I love the method 100%, I completely feel that child birth is a natural process and drugs actaully interfere with it and cause it to take longer then it should, especially if you are not fully prepared for whats to come. I know things happen and sometimes it's necessary for some women but I do not feel I need it and am committed to doing it drug free. My mom has been such an inspiration to me during this. She knows the method and how much it works, I know I can do it too.

I just don't know how I feel about the instructor. I can agitate quite easily as most of you know and she did a couple things that I wasn't so fond of but its very possible it was the mood I was in. My mom has been super awesome with all the knowledge she has given me about the method and the first class didn't tell me much I didn't already know. The instructor gave her story, we watched an at home water birth video- the baby was 9 lbs! (the video was a little weird though), she had us talk about ourselves a little, showed us some of the exercises and relaxing positions we are supposed to be doing. The class has 3 other couples which for the first class was a little awkward, hopefully the next one wont be so weird. One thing I wasn't too happy about was that we had to sit on the ground the entire time (2 hours) and for me that's fine, but Jason cant sit on the ground that long so he was uncomfortable the whole time which I didn't think was fair. She said we sit on the ground because "birth is uncomfortable and we need to get used to it" Which is fine for me, but then making Jason uncomfortable seems unnecessary. I think he could help me more if he was comfortable and can focus on me. That's just my opinion.

We go every Monday for 10 weeks, she combines two of the classes into one so its 10 weeks instead of 12. I'm really hoping the next class is better because I wasn't as excited after the class as I was before we went. I may have expected too much plus my mom already telling me so much about it made it to where I felt like she wasn't telling me anything new. This is the first class so I'm probably judging too early.
I'm going to try and stay positive and hope the next class is better. I will keep you posted for sure!

Other then all that things are great, we have a doctor appointment on Friday YAY. Those are always fun. I really love that Jason goes to every appointment with me. I couldn't imagine sitting in the doctors office by myself. I love having the support and knowing he will always be there for me, I feel very lucky.

I really need to get back to work so I will end this by saying, I hope everyone has a great week!!

BYE!
