Please welcome Olivia Michelle!

I am a week late on my blog but I have good reason for it. Our little b made her appearance into our world last Monday 8-24-2009. She was three weeks early and extremely unexpected as you can imagine.

Here is how it all started..

Last Sunday Jason and I ran errands all day. Through out the day I kept having these annoying pains in my lower stomach that I chalked up to be Braxton Hicks contractions. I really never knew what a Braxton hick’s contraction was going to feel like and figured that I was finally feeling them being so close to my due date. We got home later that day, Jason installed the baby seats in our cars since you never know when it’s going to happen (good thing huh!) We bought the paint for her bathroom earlier that day so Jason took down the mirror and was prepping it to paint the next day. Jason and I went to bed around 12:30am and while I was still feeling the contractions, I didn’t pay much attention to them. I decided to read up on my pregnancy book and was reading about labor. I laid in bed until about 2:30 wondering why I couldn’t relax and fall asleep. Around 3 am I was laying in bed and my water broke. Completely shocked, I jumped out of bed. I checked my underwear to make sure that’s what happened and that I wasn’t crazy. Sure enough it definitely was my water that broke. I know that once your water breaks, some women still go a week without delivering, I tried to go back to bed and relax. The very next contraction was so much more intense I knew that these weren’t Braxton hicks. I woke Jason up and let him know that my water broke. We timed my next contraction and they were about three minutes apart. We got up and I had him draw me a bath to see if that changed the timing of the contractions. The next one I had was so intense and I had to use the bathroom, I noticed quite a bit of blood which I had just read was one of the differences between false labor and real labor. A little blood was normal but more then 2 tablespoons worth was an indication of real labor. I told Jason that and asked if we should call the hospital. He said he would rather take me to the hospital but I really didn’t want to since I wasn’t sure how far long I was. The next contraction was pretty intense and I agreed with him to leave for the hospital. We got to the hospital around 4; they took me into a room and checked me out to see how far long I was. To everyone’s surprise I was 7-8 cm dilated! They admitted me into my labor room around 5 (so my wrist band said lol) the contractions were pretty intense but not at all what I expected. I had strong pressure in my lower back and upper thighs with each contraction. The staff at Sutter downtown was absolutely amazing. They looked at my chart, and recognized that we were using the Bradley Method and asked for our birth plan. We gave it to them and they never once asked if I wanted medication (as my birth plan requested) and left us alone during them to relax and concentrate. Jason was absolutely amazing through the entire process. Through each contraction I had him press on my lower back to help relieve some of the pressure which was sooooo relieving. The contractions were intense and as Jason pushed I kept telling myself that I knew I could do this. The feet of the bed lowered almost to the ground and I sat on the edge of the front with my feet on the lowered half in a sort of squatting position through each contraction. My memory is a little fuzzy on when I went through transition but around 8 I started to feel a strong sensation to push. I changed positions to face the head of the bed and held on to the back of it during the next few contractions. The urge to push came in between the contractions and started to replace the contractions shortly after. The change in positions was great because it changed the pressure from my rear to my pelvis. I pushed in that position until she crowned which I believe was about 8:40. I wanted to have her on my chest immediately after delivery and had to return to the squatting position front ward. I turned around and I was so tired that I wasn’t sure if I could continue to push. Jason encouraged me and said he knew I could and that she was almost here and I only needed one more good push. I pushed a few more times and at 8:50 she was born!

I can’t express the feeling of her being born. It was such a huge relief. Labor was nothing as I thought it would be but in a good way. Even with everything I learned, I thought the pain and pressure was going to be so much more then it was. It went by so quickly I couldn’t believe that it was over and that she was finally with us. Which I only contribute to the positive and focused mind I had during labor.
They put her on my chest and it was so amazing to finally see her. She had sooo much hair I was shocked.

I had a second degree tear and the doctor stitched me up as I held her in my arms. I delivered the placenta without help but had some more bleeding then normal after and they wanted to give me pitocin to help slow it. I agreed since I had my precious daughter in my arms and it would no longer affect her. She weighed 8 lbs exactly and was 19 inches long. Her temperature was a little low, she was making some grunting noises and had low blood sugar which we were told was normal for nearly term babies. They took her to the special care unit nursery for monitoring and to raise her temperature. They took me into my recovery room which was a shared room but luckily no one was in the other bed. The nurses were so nice and said I would only be there for a little bit as they were cleaning up a private room and would move me into it as soon as it was ready. I called my family and let them know that b had arrived early. The nurses wanted to know if we had picked a name but we were still undecided and luckily they said we had a day or so to decide.

We finally decided on Olivia, there were several names we liked and I had gone over them with my mom and she researched what Olivia meant for me and I just loved the meaning behind her name. We weren’t sure about middle names yet and decided to keep thinking. We decided on Michelle after a visit with my dad who like most people threw out a variation of his name but I just loved it and for everything he has done for me I felt deserved it as well. The nurses brought us Olivia to let us know that they wanted to keep her in the special care unit for a day because she was 3 weeks early and wanted to run tests to make sure there were no problems. After the first day her grunting stopped, blood sugar went normal and her temperature rose but her billurubin levels were a little high giving her jaundice. We were a little upset but knew that it would best to let her have the phototherapy hoping she would only need a day. Well we learned that the first 5 days it only gets worse before it gets better and they kept her there until Saturday when she finally reached a level they found to be acceptable. Jason and I stayed at the hospital the entire time even after they discharged me on Wednesday. The nurses allowed us to stay in a lounge area that had couches so
I could breastfeed her every three hours as they required her to be fed. That made for quite an interesting schedule but it was necessary since I didn’t want them to give her formula and wanted her learn to breastfeed and not become dependant on a bottle.
Saturday came and I was sure they were going to say they wanted one more day but luckily they discharged her and we were able to take her home.

There are no words to express how we felt when they told us we could take her home. It felt like we had been in that hospital forever and each time we thought we could take her they told us no. Finally hearing we could leave was the happiest moment I can think of with the exception of the first time I saw her. We got our stuff together and took our little Olivia home!

She is the sweetest mellow baby and I couldn’t feel luckier to have such a wonderful beautiful daughter. It is still so surreal that she is here when really I was still supposed to be pregnant and approaching my due date.

As hard as it was to stay much longer at the hospital knowing she is healthy and happy is such a relief.

We have her pediatrician appointment tomorrow. I will let you all know how it goes and update this blog with many pictures on Friday. Please come back to see our precious little girl!

Love you all and have a great week!!!

impatient b?

Photobucket

Hello and happy friday everyone!!

This week has been great and seemed to fly by. Lunch with our title girls was so much fun. They are such sweet hearts and brought us a present for little b. I didnt get to take a picture because after all the talking they had to get back and well I was a chicken and didnt want to hold them up to take a photo hahahaha but it was so much fun.

I picked up our maternity pictures this week yaaay I'm so excited to have them! This one is my favorite!!

Photobucket

You can see all of them on my facebook

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/album.php?aid=113070&id=536737046

Yesterday was our doctor appointment and those that read my facebook already know this but here it is again. The Dr. said my cervix was already starting to thin out but I'm not dialated (whhhew) and that b was about 7 lbs currently!! OMG hahhahaha he said if he had to guess she would be here a week early and would be around 8 1/2 lbs but that she was head down and things looked great. HAHAHAHA is our little b as impatient as we are to meet her?! I really hope so! I'm not holding my breath since its just speculation but its fun to imagine her being here and its going to be so soon.

We took a video of her heart beat this time at the appointment but you can barely hear it when I uploaded it:( oh well I tried I promise I did!

Something funny as we left the appointment, we walked into the parking garage and in the middle of the floor was this slipper...

Photobucket
just sitting all by itself, no cars around it because it was near the entrance so there are no parking spaces there.. makes you wonder what happened that someone lost it.. and not just a shoe but a house slipper... weird lol I guess we will never know hahaha

Well thats it for this week. I will be back on monday!!

hugs and kisses!!

36 weeks.. omg

Well here we are, another Monday another week down.. the time is coming for b to make her arrival.

Here we are at 36 weeks!!

Her update courtesy of babycenter.com

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.

At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.

Time really has gone by so quickly. To think I only have 4 weeks left, or really whenever she decides to grace us with her presence it could be anytime now.

I've been doing my best to stay active, walking around, I want to make sure I can do enough walking during labor to help keep the process moving along :) I won't be able to do that if I'm a couch potato for the next couple weeks.

I have so much anticipation right now, wondering when its going to start, how I'm going to feel, having my mom fly in time to be here with me. I got my birth plan ready last week, printed several copies so the staff knows what we want. I know you can't plan everything and things won't go exactly how we planned but hopefully it doesn't have to deter too much. With the support of Jason and my mom I know I can do this. I'm so lucky to have such supportive people to help me through it.

We picked up b's baby book this weekend, its soooooo cute. Its princess themed of course, I couldn't help it and its just too adorable. I'm SO looking forward to filling it out.

Last week was a lot of fun for me, I met with my friends ryn and michelle for lunch on Monday and thursday I met up with my friend stef, ryn and about 11 other girls to see Julie and Julia which was soooo cute. We had such a great time and it was so nice to get together with everyone. I just love them, they are awesome and hilarious to be around.

This weekend went by so fast and we got some much needed errands completed. We ordered the border for b's bathroom and that should be here this week so hopefully we can get to that this weekend. Hopefully we will have her room all done soon, its getting close just not quite there yet. Not that it really matters since she will be sleeping with us for now but its still fun to have it all ready for her when we bring her home.

This week I have lunch with our title company on wednesday to celebrate my departure from work and b of course and a doctor appointment on thursday yaaaay we get to hear her heartbeat again! I will try and have jason take another video of it. I love being able to hear it over and over again. Our little girl! After this I think my appointments go to every week... aahhhh sooo close! All for a good cause :)

Weeeelll this has been very wordy (with lots of run on sentances, sorrry lol) with not many pictures. I will try and get pictures for friday's blog :)

Thanks for reading, love you all!

35 1/2 wks & baby shower!

HI Everyone,

So I'm a couple days late on this. Monday was super busy, I had lunch with some friends at noon and had a lot of work around the house to do and just didn't have time to get on the computer much. Tuesday was spent finishing what I was unable to get to on Monday. So here I am today, Finally being able to get to the blog.

Here is b's update at 35 weeks (thanks to babycenter.com).. wow this is going by so fast!

Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that she's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, she isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times she kicks should remain about the same. Her kidneys are fully developed now, and her liver can process some waste products. Most of her basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

Honeydew b!! That quarter sure is getting small lol

Sooo This weekend was great. My baby shower was a lot of fun. My sister Danielle hosted it with some help from my mother in law Jo. I have some pictures that I was able to get from my Sister Anna and Sister in law Jen. For those who were unable to make it, Hopefully you can feel a part of the fun :)

They did a great job with the food, we had fruit, cheese, muffins, salad and little chicken salad sandwichs.

Photobucket

Here is Jen, we are playing the memory game. Just like old school memory, you have to match two of the same words. She had little prizes for each time you matched one, I didnt realize till it was almost over that the prizes (candy bars) were similar to the word you matched (example- triplets-> 3 muskateers) hahahaha she kept saying "any guesses" as she reached in the bag to get the candy bar and I was thinking... how are we supposed to guess? hahahahaha several rounds it finally clicked hahahah oooooh I get it!!

Photobucket

One of the funnier games was this game where everyone had to draw a baby on a plate but the plate had to be on their head. LOL that was hilarious, I had to choose which one was the best. That got a lot of laughs.

Photobucket
Photobucket

Here is the baby picture game.. I got them all right!! It wasnt really fair since 4 out of the 8 pictures up there were my family hahaha of course I got those no problem.

Photobucket

Little Abby behaved soooo well. She was such a doll to have at the party.
Photobucket

Everyone was so generous and got me some amazing things. I feel so lucky to have such wonderful caring people to share this time of our life with.

Photobucket

This is a robe that has little giraffe ears on the top of the hood, it was sooo cute!

Abby was so cute and helped bring each present to me.

So from Left to right..

Here is Danielle :) Thank you for all your hard work in getting this together for me.

Busy week!

HI!!

Well this week has been so crazy!

Monday we met with the b's pediatrician Dr. Grant. He was so nice, his office is in folsom so not too far away. What is funny is he lives right by Jason's parents. He was also Jason's pediatrician! He was awesome though and said that we live close enough that he would make house calls if needed and of course we know where he lives and can call him anytime. I'm so glad getting b a pediatrician wasn't a hassle or having to interview tons of them. I feel very good about having him for her pediatrician.

Tuesday we went out to the auction to find me a car, Jason has his car salesman license so of course he refuses to go anywhere but the Auction to buy a car. lol Yes I know its the same as the dealer without the increase price but its also so much more work hahahaaha I had to get up at 5:30 to make sure we were out there in time to preview all the cars to see what was out there before they started auctioning. Luckily the one I liked was up front and went early. They started auctioning at 9:30 and it was like the 3rd car! Its sooo cute. Its a 2004 bmw 525i.
Photobucket
Photobucket
It was funny because once we got out there looking I started to second guess what I wanted because I started to feel bad about spending that kind of money on a car. I told Jason that I would be okay with getting a lower priced car but he was so sweet and wanted me to get what I really liked. It's still kind of crazy to me, but I do love it though!! It rides sooooo nice, and the ac works amazingly hahaha that's really important with our Sacramento weather :)

After we got back comcast came to set up our internet at the house. I can't say how much I love having regular internet again. Using that wireless card really seemed useless at times. I hated it so much. Its like heaven having regular internet. I can blog and check out my email without screaming lol.

Tuesday was our Anniversary but we decided to stay in. We had his parents over and I made dinner for everyone. :) Pork chops with a spicy garlic sauce, rice, mixed veggies and garlic cheese biscuits. It turned out really good.

Wednesday wasn't too bad, Jason was super busy so I brought him lunch which was fun for me since I was able to drive my new car lol (most of you know I never ever drive)
I went to preview a house for one of our clients and then I went home.

Thursday we had brinks come and install our alarm. With me being home all the time I just feel better about it and plus when b comes I want one for when we sleep. That took forever. I hated the brinks guy, he seriously got here at around 8 and didn't leave until around 3!! He was a little creepy and I caught him watching tv! It was only for a couple of minutes but still, I wanted him out of our house. At least all that is done with now.

Later on we took the hospital maternity tour at Sutter Downtown to see how the check in process was and what the rooms are like. They have two types of rooms, private and shared. They are filled first come first serve, so here is to hoping I get a private room! lol

Today we had our Dr. Appointment for b. Everything looks good, she is measuring at about 35 cm, her heart beat was great and she is so far still in good position.
I can't believe how short a time it will be until she is here!

Someone Jason used to work with gave him a whole box of little girl clothes. We went through it and kept some of the stuff. Most of it was ok average stuff but look at these.. A couple of the items were just sooooo cute.

I can already see her in these little mary jane socks!
Photobucket

This outfit it for about 3 months.. I couldn't help but love it and it will be perfect for the time of year!
Photobucket

This outfit is for 3-6 months... how cute is the little hat and skirt!!

Photobucket

and of course.. Jason about died when he saw this..
Photobucket
LOL You know she will have a pair of swiss'!

We were in Lowe's the other day and I found these curtain rods and tie backs on clearance from $20 to $5! They are soooo perfect for her room I was so excited. I love getting good deals
Photobucket
Photobucket
They are going to look adorable with the curtains!

The cleaners came last week and when we went into her room this week we saw that they did this..
Photobucket

I died laughing, Jason thought I did it but it wasn't me! I had them just sitting next to each other but apparently they thought the elephant should take the bunny for a ride.. too cute.

I put up some of the decorations in her room.. here are some updated photos for her room so you can see where I hung stuff.
Photobucket
You can barely see them but the little flowers are hung vertically in the corner.
Photobucket
Photobucket

Still needs quite a bit but we are getting there :)

So much going on all the time it seems, It should slow down some for these next couple of weeks but who knows. Tomorrow is my baby shower! YAY! I'm so excited to see everyone and hang out. It should be a really good time.

Well this has gotten to be crazy long so I will wrap it up now.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Pictures, 2 yrs and 34 weeks!

Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone’s week and weekend went well. We took our maternity pictures last Friday and I can’t wait to view them all! She said they should be ready in a week. It was so much fun, although getting up and down wasn’t that easy for me lol. She was super super nice and found the cutest place ever in Carmichael. It’s a little garden area that’s part of the Carmichael park but in a different area. SOOOOO pretty and secluded, I swear it looks like we are in a forest.
She has a preview of our pictures on her blog so check it out! Sandyrunnerblog.com

Saturday Jason took me to Walnut Creek to see “My fair Lady” at the Leshers center for the arts to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. They did such a great job. Jason really enjoyed it as well which is nice and makes it that much more enjoyable for me. He can actually stay awake in a play which is great! I was a little uncomfortable sitting for 3 hours but it was worth it. We went to the 2pm show that way we could enjoy our dinner without feeling rushed. This is b’s second musical, we saw Wicked in SF in February when she was just a weeeeee lil thing lol. My parents used to take us to musicals when we were young and it’s really stuck with me. I absolutely love them and I can’t wait to take her as well.
Photobucket

Bing Crosby’s restaurant was SO cute.
Photobucket
Photobucket
They had someone on the piano playing in bar which was nice. The food was really good, I had scampi pasta and of course Jason had the filet. We took our time and had dessert, I had the Grand Marnier Crème Brule and Jason had the chocolate molten cake.
Photobucket
Mine looks a little funny, it looked like little meatballs on top but really they were raspberries lol Super delicious.
I was too chicken to ask someone to take our picture so these were all I took.

We have been trying to locate our cake maker because we were going to have her remake our top layer for us since we didn’t keep ours after the wedding. Long story short, it was made with a liqueur and it started to break down a day after the wedding so we had to throw it out aaand we forgot to try to get it remade last year and wanted to this year. We contacted our wedding coordinator and are still waiting to hear back. Our actual Anniversary is tomorrow so even though it’s unlikely, maybe we can still get it done. Wishful thinking I know :)
After dinner we came home and relaxed in the spa for a couple hours which was perfect, even though Jason wouldn’t let it go over 98 degrees. Protecting b of course, she is our number one priority now.
After a couple hours we came back inside and watched our wedding video. I really have to say how much I enjoy having a wedding video. They did such an amazing job on it and since our photographer ended up being a dud and missed a lot, having this video 100% makes it okay. All the memories of the day are there and being able to actually see it as it happened, brought tears to my eyes. We almost didn’t get a wedding video because Jason didn’t think we would ever watch it but even now he admits that it was the best choice we made for the wedding. It’s amazing how much you forget over time. We are going to make it a tradition to watch it every anniversary.

This was the day I married my soul mate.
Photobucket

It’s crazy to think it was 5 years ago we met, two years ago that we got married and now we are starting our family. I truly feel lucky to have such a caring wonderful person to share my life with and be the father of my children. He is going to be an amazing dad.

Okay enough about us, lets get to the star of the show, the one everyone wants to know about.. b!

She is 34 weeks! Can you believe only 6 or so weeks left and she will finally be here!!

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies

We are meeting with her pediatrician today at 2:30, which was also once Jason’s pediatrician!! He seems really nice and isn’t a drug pusher which I like.
Tomorrow is going to be a crazy busy day, We are going to the auction to get me a car YAY.. with me staying home now it doesn’t make sense for me not to have one anymore. When I worked in the office it was fine because Jason and I were always together but now I’m stranded at home it would nice to be able to leave when I need, which requires a car of course lol. Not sure what I’m going to get, its going to be a very long day being that I have to get up at 6 so we can be there by 7 to look around. Then we have Comcast coming to install our internet at the house around 2 or so but you know how that goes. We also are going to dinner somewhere here in Sac for our anniversary, or maybe I will just make dinner here.. hmm haven’t decided yet.. I guess it depends on how tired we are from the day.
Thursday we have Brinks coming to install the alarm, finally. I hate being here alone with no alarm, especially after the baby comes. Friday we have a Dr. Appointment to check on how b is doing. Depending on how busy I am after I might blog on how it all went. Saturday is my baby shower!! I’m really excited to hang out with everyone. We have been so busy lately I feel like it has been forever since I’ve seen or really spoken to anyone. If you haven’t heard from me in a while I promise I still love you and hopefully things will slow down for us a little to do things with friends. You understand right! :)

Well I need to get some stuff done around the house before the appointment so I’m going to go.
I will be back soon and have a great week!
